Threat intelligence

What makes a threat report useful to a small security team?

Less noise, more relevance: turning outside reporting into a question you can investigate.

A threat report is most useful when it changes a decision. Before collecting indicators, ask which systems, workflows, or risks the report actually concerns.

Describe the question

Can an observed technique apply to your environment? Do you have the records needed to investigate it? A clear question keeps the work bounded.

Preserve provenance

Keep the original source, the observation date, and the confidence attached to a claim. An indicator without context can produce more confusion than insight.

Measure the result

Record whether the report led to a configuration change, a detection improvement, or a justified decision to take no action.
